Microsoft Teams integration

Downtime alerts in Microsoft Teams

When a client site fails a check, an Adaptive Card lands in the Teams channel your people already watch. Uses the modern Workflows webhook, not the deprecated connectors.

Sentinel → Microsoft Teams

Why Teams alerts

Built for teams that live in Microsoft 365

If your agency or your client's organisation runs on Microsoft 365, Teams is where people already are, and an alert anywhere else is an alert someone has to go looking for. Posting into the right channel means the person on duty sees the outage inside the tool they had open anyway.

Microsoft deprecated the Office 365 connectors that most monitoring tools still document. Sentinel uses the Power Automate Workflows webhook, which is the supported path forward, so setup instructions match what Teams actually shows you today.

  • Create the webhook from the channel's Workflows menu in a few clicks
  • Alerts arrive as Adaptive Cards with a link to the full incident
  • Severity routing decides what is worth interrupting the channel for
  • Works per monitor, so client channels only hear about their own sites

Features

Everything Teams alerting should do

The modern Workflows webhook

Sentinel posts through Power Automate Workflows, the mechanism Microsoft replaced Office 365 connectors with, so the integration will not die with the deprecation.

Adaptive Cards, not plain text

Alerts render as structured cards with the monitor name, failure reason, severity and an incident link. Readable in the channel and in the activity feed.

Severity routing

Send outages to Teams while keeping warnings and recovery notices on email. Each severity tier is a checkbox, per channel and per monitor.

No admin consent required

The webhook is created from the channel itself by anyone with permission to add a workflow. No tenant-wide app approval, no waiting on IT.

Recovery in the same thread of work

When the site comes back, the channel that saw the outage sees the recovery with the downtime duration. The record lives where the team talked about it.

Every check type

Uptime, SSL expiry, DNS changes, keyword failures, heartbeat and cron misses all route through the same Teams channel with the same severity rules.

FAQ

Microsoft Teams integration questions.

Still have questions? Get in touch.

How do I connect Sentinel to Microsoft Teams?

In Teams, open the channel where you want alerts, choose Workflows from the channel menu, and use the 'Post to a channel when a webhook request is received' template. Copy the webhook URL it gives you into your Sentinel profile settings and save.

Does this use the deprecated Office 365 connectors?

No. Sentinel posts through Power Automate Workflows, which is Microsoft's replacement for the retired connectors. If you have followed older instructions from other tools and hit a wall, this is why.

Which plans include Teams alerts?

Microsoft Teams notifications are included on the Starter plan and above. The free plan includes email alerts.

Can different clients alert into different channels?

The webhook posts to the channel you created it in, and per-monitor notification settings control which monitors use it. Agencies typically pair this with a shared alerts channel, or use webhooks on the Pro plan for more elaborate routing.

Alert the channel, not the inbox

Connect Microsoft Teams in a few minutes and put downtime in front of the people who fix it.
