FAQ
Fair questions.
Straight answers about monitoring client sites with Sentinel.
Why do I need uptime monitoring if my clients already have hosting?
Your client’s host monitors its own infrastructure. Sentinel monitors the website from the outside, from four regions around the world. That helps catch DNS, SSL, CDN, routing, and application problems that can leave the server healthy while the site is unreachable.
How many client sites can I monitor for free?
The free plan includes up to 10 monitors with checks every 5 minutes. When your client list grows, you can upgrade for more monitors, faster checks, and additional features.
Will Sentinel wake me up over a false alarm?
Sentinel checks from multiple regions and confirms an outage before opening an incident. A problem at one monitoring location doesn’t automatically become your emergency.
How quickly can I set up a client site?
Usually in about a minute. Add the URL, choose what you want to monitor, and Sentinel starts checking it. There’s nothing to install on the client’s website or server.
Can I give my clients uptime reports?
Yes, on the Business plan. Generate client-ready uptime reports you can share each month.
Can I monitor more than whether a site is up or down?
Yes. Sentinel can monitor SSL certificates, domains, DNS, keywords and content, APIs, ports, cron jobs and more, alongside traditional uptime monitoring.
Do I need to install anything on my clients’ sites?
No. Sentinel monitors externally, so there’s no plugin, package, or agent to install on the sites you manage.
What happens as my freelance business grows?
Sentinel can grow with you. Add more monitors as you take on clients, invite team members when you’re no longer working alone, and use status pages, reports, integrations, and faster check intervals as you need them.
